Wow. Maybe that debunks David's earlier post about the freshness being a factor! You said you chopped it down yourself, Dorka? Seems you can't get much fresher than THAT...

Oh my tree has no scent either. We were so excited this year. Finally we're cutting our own tree. We drove 25 miles on a blistery cold, cold sunday afternoon. I am so sad our tree "which we didn't name" doesn't have any scent" we definately will name our tree next year. Anyway, we did the test pulled some needles off and WALLAH! the needles smell great. Ok so its not dead . Still I'm perplexed.. How is it the needles smell great and the tree has no scent?????

Thanks for that info, David! We haven't bought this year's tree yet. My daughter keeps telling me, "Don't forget to make sure it has a SMELL, Mom!"

Merry Christmas to you. :)

Same problem / We are all not crazy / After a bit of research (including this post) I found that if your tree doesn't smell it is not fresh, period. Bite the bullet and change it out / It is a pain but for us was worth the smell /
Merry Christmas

I have a frazier fir and have the exact same problem. When I first researched on the internet there was only one person I could find expressing their frustration at the no sent. It really made a difference not having a tree that smelled. I hope next year is different. I have bought frazier firs for over 10 years; thought I was crazy. Thanks for sharing!

Aha! So I'm not crazy after all! This is really strange, Geof...

Someone wrote the National Christmas Tree Association about a similar problem. I think the response "the sense of smell is very subjective" is lame. Who doesn't know what a Christmas tree SMELLS like?
